safe effective sleep solution without surgery is a non-surgical treatment to help adults stop snoring & cure sleep apnea symtoms before they become life-threatening

Adult Snoring Problems

Approximately 10 to 30 percent of adult men and women snore. Severe snoring may become such a nuisance that it disturbs a whole family's sleep. In many instances a spouse will be inclined to sleep in a separate bedroom just to obtain adequate rest.

While snoring is a significant social problem, it often indicates a more serious risk to an individual's health. Research now confirms that adult snoring can lead to cardiovascular disease, as well as to high blood pressure - either of which can reduce life expectancy.

Our clinic offers simple and effective relief from snoring without surgery. If you, or your partner suffer from snoring, we invite you to review the sleep solutions we provide to patients and consider the many advantages of our non-surgical remedy to stop snoring.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Snoring can also be indicative of a life-threatening medical condition known as obstructive sleep apnea, or OSA. Defined as a breathing disorder, sleep apnea is characterized by repeated interruptions of a person's breathing during sleep. Left untreated, sufferers are 5 times more likely to experience a heart attack or stroke while sleeping.

Your best defense is knowledge; know the warning signs for sleep apnea. Read some frequently asked questions about this dangerous illness and take a sleepiness test. If you, or a family member exhibit sleep apnea related symptoms, please get help immediately - it is vital that you see a sleep medicine specialist as soon as possible.

Using professional screening techniques, a doctor of dental medicine can evaluate any potential "red flags" which might indicate you're having sleep apnea episodes. If further assessment reveals medical intervention is needed, working with physicians, Dr. Urban can recommend, deliver and maintain a non-invasive treatment for sleep apnea.

In addition, our tests and breathing disorder therapy are covered by the patient's regular medical insurance carrier. Please contact our clinic if you have further questions, or to schedule an appointment with the doctor.

TMJ / TMD Treatment (Temporomandibular Disorder)

We find that some of our patients also suffer from continual headaches as well a chronic neck and facial pain. This pain in some instances can be caused by TMD, or Temporomandibular Disorder. The pain some people experience can be very unpleasant and may even restrict their normal functions and movement.

Your jaw joints, or temporomandibular joints, connect your skull to the lower jawbone. Throughout the day these joints are used almost without interuption as you speak, chew and swallow food, or yawn.

TMD symptoms include pain in and around the jaw area, ringing, stuffiness or pain in the ears, aches in the neck, frequent headaches, a popping or clicking sound during jaw movements, face swelling, jaw muscle spasms, locked or restricted movement of the mouth and/or an alignment change to the top and lower teeth.

Should you experience any of these symptoms, call our office. Dr. Urban can help determine if your discomfort indicates TMD and he can suggest a type of treatment that's best suited for your condition.
